Method

I have found that no one form of plan works for every project, and I often wish to show the client more than one view of the garden-to-be.

To accomplish this, I use a combination of vellum overlays done over digital pictures taken on site as well as the more traditional method of a view from above with the plants outlined on the plan.   Included with each design packet is a detailed plant list and cost estimate.

The medium I use most often is watercolor with pen and ink. ( traditional dip pen). I find this to be a quick and effective way of working that gives me complete freedom of color and form while providing the client with an accurate plan that is easy to read and understand.
This way of working has made communication between clients and myself much easier, and helps the homeowner not familiar with looking at standard planting plans to visualize what the finished garden will look like.

The pictures that I have up on this site (see current projects) are photocopies of the vellum plans I have given to clients, both concept drawings and final plans. They do not translate particularly well to computer screen, but they do give a basic idea of the kind of work I do and what you might expect to see in a design packet from me.
